Hastings DEMU 1001 thrashes to Exeter with the Cogload Climber - 2024

A short trip to Somerset & Devon, to catch Hastings DEMU 1001 with the Cogload Climber, heading for Exeter. The ‘Hastings’ Diesel-Electric Multiple Units (DEMUs) are a unique type of narrow-bodied train which consisted of 7 coaches on the day, with 3 power cars. The trip originated out of Hastings, and after a skirt around London, joined an empty GWML, thanks to strike action, heading for Exeter. The first shot is named after the railtour itself, Cogload Junction. The DEMU rested in the lesser-used platform 1 at Exeter Central, before returning to London via the West of England line, passing regular services at passing loops at Honiton, Chard, Yeovil and Tisbury.
