A short trip to the South Devon Railway, which runs between Buckfastleigh and Totnes, alongside the river Dart. It is the other railway that runs alongside the river Dart, that being the Dartmouth Steam Railway, which I filmed on multiple occasions. On this Easter Weekend, there was a medium-sized mixed traction gala, with 22 more services than usual, and many crossovers at Staverton Loop. Running on the day was: Small Prairie No.5526, 1336 Class No.1369, Pannier Tank No.6412, Class 33 Crompton No.33002 ‘Sea King’ making all the right noises, and Class 122 W55000 Railcar. A working timetable was not published before the event, which made it difficult to follow movements. Nonetheless, it was a fine day out and a great start to the filming season.
